Church School At A Glance
Church School Education is offered for Pre-K through 12th grade (ages 4 through 18).
Church School classes meet during the 9:15 a.m. service. (No school during summer nor during Youth Eucharist)
The children go directly into their classrooms when they arrive. (9:00AM - 9:10AM) and then
join their families in church at the Peace, as noted in the bulletin
each Sunday.(The children are then with their parents as they leave the church.)
When there is a forum,
there will be extended child care so that the parents can go to the forum.

| CHURCH SCHOOL PHILOSPHY & PROGRAM |
Our Philosophy
The Church School Ministry is charged with sharing the sacred trust of the religious education
and spiritual nurturance of our children with their parents.
Our purpose is to develop and implement a Church School curricula that share with
Trinity's children the biblical story of faith and the presence of God's love
in their lives and to provide special events tht provide an opportunity
for Church School children to live out a service of love.
The story of our faith, the presence of the Holy Spirit,
and our love of neighbors are all connected in powerful ways and experienced by Trinity's young people.
|
The Program
Church School education is offered for young
people from age 3 through age 18. Church
School classes meet during the 9:15 service.
Pre-K through Fifth Grade classes utilize
the Episcopal Church Curriculum while a
customized curriculum has been designed for
the middle and high school classes. Teams
of three to six teachers instruct in pairs or
individually in six-week blocks. Some of the
older youth will occasionally offer their assistance
in the younger classes. A Youth Eucharist is also scheduled in the Chapel every 3rd Sunday for all classes (and open to all who wish to join), providing an opportunity
for some large group programming. Therefore there is no church school classes on those Sundays.

Parental Involvement
|
Our Church School curriculum and programs are designed to assist parents in providing
Christian education for their children. Often, materials are sent home to help
continue conversations and learning and provide some consistency for the children.
| Parents are asked to:
Assume the
responsibility for enabling their children to attend regularly.
Volunteer and sign up to help with special events and activities.
NEW FAMILIES: Parents are ask to fill out a Church School Registration Form 06 - 07(pdf).
Which can be downloaded here and filled out at home; then mailed back to church or handed in when you come to church, whichever is convenient for you.
Please contact Kyle Evans, kevans@trinitysolebury.org if you have any further questions.

| OTHER INFOMATION |
Church School Advisory Board – The Board works to
provide age-appropriate Christian education
to all children in the Trinity family, from
nursery through high school. Membership
includes a range of parish members, the
Director of Youth & Children Ministries, and
the Church School Vestry Liaison. Through
careful evaluation of the overall curriculum,
special large group activities, outreach
projects, and the Children’s Chapel, the
committee strives to keep the Church School
program dynamic, thereby helping assure
the children’s commitment to their faith.
The board convenes the 4th Monday of
every month.
Nursery Care – This service is available for infants and young children every Sunday at the
9:15 & 11:30 a.m. services, at the 9:30 a.m. summer service, and most other
services, or events of the parish. Children may be left in the nursery
through the church service and coffee hour, and Trinity forums. The
nursery and toddler rooms are staffed every Sunday with a minimum of two adults each.
Early Communion – Early Communion will prepare children who are in 1st grade (approximately, each parent can decide when it is appropriate to start their child) This program is for children either about to receive communion for the first time or
who are already receiving and interested in gaining a deeper understanding
of the sacrament. When children receive communion, it is a decision to be
made by each family. This program helps parents explain to their children
what we believe about Eucharist, as well as the practical question of how
to come forward and receive the bread and the cup.
Youth Confirmation – In the course of their Christian development, those
baptized at an early age are expected, when they are ready and have been duly prepared, to make a mature
public affirmation of their faith and commitment to the responsibility of their Baptism and
to receive the laying on the hands by the Bishop. Youth Confirmation involves a six week
curriculum led by both the Rector and the Director of Youth and Children's Ministries.
An opportunity for Confirmation usually occurs on an annual basis. 2007-2008 Youth Confirmation Flyer
Vacation Bible School – One week during the summer, Vacation Bible School is offered to the children in the area (you do not have to be a member to enroll your child - All are welcome). For fun and exploration of biblical stories (and don't forget - summer fun with a child's imagination in mind) join us for VBS! It is usually the first week in August each year.
