Church School Ministry

Jenn Summers, Vestry Liaison

churchschool@trinitysolebury.org

Religious Education and Spiritual Formation is very important to our community at Trinity. The Church School teachers share with children the biblical story of our faith and guide them toward an understanding of God's love and presence in their young lives.

Communications Ministry

Gary Wilmore, Vestry Liaison

communications@trinitysolebury.org

"The Communications Ministry is blessed with the tasks of capturing and preserving our past, helping us to understand where we are now while assisting in the creation and sharing of Trinity's vision for the future. As a new ministry, we are inviting people to share in its creation."

Vision
• The Communications Ministry serves to build, strengthen, promote, and preserve the Trinity brand.
• This Ministry's function as "Brand Central" is to ensure that components from each ministry maintain a cohesive message visually and verbally that is reflective of the brand's essence.
• The value of viewing the various ministries and their objectives from a different perspective makes the Communications Ministry a key component in the strategic development process.
• Paramount to the development of a successful strategy is the fact that members of the Communications team are not influenced by the internal workings of another ministry during the creative process.
• The Communications Ministry is mindful that we are doing God's work and seeks to be guided by His will.

John 4:34: Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work."

Tidings Newsletter

Trinity Tidings is a monthly newsletter sometimes referred to as "The Tidings." It is an important means of communication within the parish, providing information on events and activities. It contains a calendar of events, additions to the Parish Register, and news articles about members both old and new. News articles are generated from the staff, Vestry, and the parish at large. Please go to the Tidings and Publications section of the website to view/download the pdf. versions of current and past Trinity Tidings

Directory- New Directories were published in the Spring of 2010 and are available at the church office in the Rectory.

The communications committee focuses on all advertising needs for the staff or lay ministry leaders. This ministry supports the entire church in communicating our mission to each other but, more importantly to the outside world as we seek to bring Christ's vision to the wider community. Bring any questions regarding such matters to any one of the communications committee and they can help each ministry create press releases, posters, postcards, bulletin inserts, e-blasts or flyers for any event that the individual ministries require.

Finance Ministry

Reid McCarthy, Vestry Liaison

finance@trinitysolebury.org

Douglas McArthur, Treasurer

treasurer@trinitysolebury.org

The Finance Ministry provides the Vestry with guidance and advice in the faithful stewardship of Trinity's financial resources, always seeking to ensure that thoughtful financial planning is a integral part of the parish's overall mission. The Finance Ministry meets monthly in the Church Office conference room. New members are always welcome. Check the monthly calendar for meeting dates.

Counter's Team - under the direction of the Treasurer the Sunday's collection plate is counted and recorded by teams of counters.

Parish Life Ministry

Jane McNeill, Vestry Liaison

specialevents@trinitysolebury.org

Parish Life Ministry centers its efforts on welcoming new members and helping existing members find their own personal ministries at Trinity Church.

Coffee Hour - Everyone gets an opportunity to participate in hosting coffee hour. It is the heart and soul of Trinity, offering a helping hand and serving something warm (or, in the warmer months, cold). It is truly "Welcoming All People" at the grass roots level. The schedule is on the website. The tables are set up, cups put out, coffee and tea are already prepared for you. All you need to bring are two quarts of half and half and a snack. Thank you for helping.

Hospitality Committee - assists the parish with provisions for celebrations and gatherings. Coffee Hour and hostesses are also arranged by this committee.

Men's Breakfast -This ministry provides an opportunity for the men of the parish to get to know one another in an atmosphere of Christian fellowship. Breakfast is cooked by the men and there is a speaker who provides interesting topics. These meetings take place on the first Saturday of each month in McArthur Hall at 8:00 a.m.

Welcome Committee - locate and greet newcomers on Sunday mornings and give them a warm welcome to Trinity. They provide visitors with information and invite them to the Trinity family. They are also responsible for nametags for members of Trinity.

The following fundraisers are sub committees under the umbrella of Parish Life, with various members of the congregation who have oversight for their continued success year after year. As different leaders take on each of the events it builds "community within the parish".

• Proposing a stewardship theme and stewardship definition for the year
• Writing the annual stewardship brochure
• Updating stewardship information on the website
• Developing stewardship for children
• Link with strategic planning and communication ministries

4. Newcomers
There are scheduled dinners that are planned throughout the year. These dinners are provided to get to know those visitors who are interested in membership programs. All interested new or existing are asked to sign up by calling the Church Office at 215-297-5135.

All parishioners are encouraged not only to practice stewardship in giving with thanksgiving from what each has received from a generous and abundant God but to also practice stewardship by applying our many and varied talents and gifts in the ministry opportunities at Trinity.

Goverance Ministry

Joseph Thomas, Vestry Liaison

The Strategic Planning Ministry works to understand and discern the various issues impacting near and long range needs to effectively fulfill the Mission of Trinity. The team engages in gathering and assessing data to understand the trends they imply. Seeking to understand trends leads to identifying potential solutions, options for growing in an efficient manner, and the resources necessary for implementation.

The 2005 Strategic Planning Report identifies issues for focusing planning.
They are:
• Growth dynamics within the parish and local community
• Space needs
• Missions and ministries
• Staffing
• Buildings and grounds
• Communications
• Finance

Anyone wishing to read the full report, can get a copy from the Rectory Office. Soon the website will also have a link to a pdf. of the report (found in Tidings and Publications) for those that wish to read it online or download it.

The Strategic Planning Ministry will work to outline specific initiatives for a Strategic Plan designed to guide us in efficiently fulfilling our Mission Statement. Each Vestry Ministry has selected a representative to work with the Strategic Planning team, providing insight and expansion of their vision. The resulting Strategic Plan will focus on three or four significant issues to give direction for implementing spiritual, programmatic, and capital needs for the next five years.

Trinity Youth Ministry

Kim Laughlin, Vestry Liaison
Stephen Wilson,Director of Youth and Children Ministries

youthministry@trinitysolebury.org

All young people grades 6 through 12 are invited to become part of TYG. Newcomers are always welcome, and our youth are urged to "Bring a Friend." Parents and other adults are encouraged to become involved in this rewarding ministry.

Tinity Youth Group Nights - are every Wednesday evening from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Family Dinner Night is on the second Wednesday of each month. Each family is asked to pick a Wednesday, and they are to provide dinner for the youth and families. A team of three families conducts this bountiful event. These Wednesday evening youth nights offer a great way for members, from several school systems to connect mid-week.

Activities - include two annual weekend retreats, swim parties, ski trips, and many other fun events! Trinity Youth also lend a helping hand to people in need through several different outreach programs.

Mission Philadelphia - is a culmination of TYG's annual outreach. This occurs as a weeklong project in June. The youth reside in Philadelphia and spend a week partnering with residents in challenged communities on a wide range of projects.

14th Annual Mission Philadelphia - June 19-26 2010

Spiritual Development - Each Wednesday evening includes a time for group prayer and smaller group reflection, allowing our young people to explore their relationships with God in an open and non-threatening environment. On the third Sunday of each month, a service of Holy Eucharist takes place at 9:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. The worship is completely planned and led by our young people. These and other opportunities for worship, Christian music, weekend retreats, and conversations about their walk with Christ allow for their experience of God to find expression and support within the community of faith.

Service - Trinity's young people have relationships with institutions locally and internationally. Help could be at a homeless shelter, the Food Pantry in Lambertville, a dental clinic and school in Kenya, or building a memorial garden in West Philadelphia. Our young people are exposed to a broad spectrum of outreach. They are invited to respond and experience the benefits of a caring and committed Christian life.

Lobsterfest - Our annual Lobsterfest has grown into a community event drawing nearly 1,000 people to Trinity's campus. This dinner of fresh Maine lobsters, corn, clam chowder, and coleslaw is a true festival and celebration of our young people with the addition of live bands, fun activities for young children and silent auction items that fill tents full. The funds raised at this activity help to offset the cost of our outreach project, Mission Philadelphia.

Trinity Youth Group Online - You can keep up with all Trinity Youth Group activities at our website www.trinitysolebury.org/tyg

Trinity Youth Group Band - Trinity Youth Band provides music at almost all TYG events. They also lead the Trinity community in music on Youth Eucharist Sundays.

Pastoral Care

Along with the clergy, Trinity's pastoral caregivers provide a variety of ministries for the well-being and healing of individuals and families. After prayerful discernment, specialized training, and the commitment to ongoing supervision and accountability, members of the team offer pastoral care in the forms of skilled listening, discursive and/or healing prayer and home Communion.

Trinity Cares

Trinity provides baskets of food for our members in times of need and are delivered by the Pastoral Care and Healing Groups, and/or other dedicated members of the parish family. Anyone wishing to help out with the cooking or who would like to explore the ministry of Pastoral Care should contact clergy.
