Communication from Mwamba
Kyle, Kathleen and Tara's had hoped to have easy access to the internet while they were in Kenya. That was not
the case but, check out the "Postcards" from Mwamba 2006 that they were able to send.
Now that they are back, they want to share more with you.
So check back periodically over the month of June as they collect their thoughts, memories and photos for you and share them through our website.

Tara Stedman shares her reasons for
feeling the call to this experience:
“I choose to go to Kenya to fulfill my
hopes to experience new cultures and traditions
from other parts of the world that
are not as fortunate as we are here in the
U.S. This will give me the opportunity to
meet new people and help them build on
their dreams and hopes. I want to share
with them the skills that I have learned at
Mission Philadelphia.
My hope is to understand how they survive
with the little bit of means that they
have and what motivates them. I want to
share my culture and Christian ways with
them. I would like to bring back all my
experiences and share them among many.
Hopefully, more people will go the next
time to Kenya and help them build more
schools, so the children have a place to
learn, and deepen the understanding
among all cultures and traditions.” |
As the church community continues to find new ways to connect with and serve the "global community" through mission trips. We will continue to work toward keeping those here at home connected to those missions through the website. We hope you enjoy these glimpses into a Trinity Outreach program (past and present); perhaps it will spark "a call" in you for next year's trip.

OTHER WAYS OF HELPING There are many ways for us to help support growth of the Anglican mission in Kenya. One way Trinity has helped is in financially supporting several young women, to go to high school ($350/year/per girl). Our support has made going to school possible for them... and made a better future possible. As is to be expected, most of these girls are also unable to continue their studies and go to college. Without a college degree they must give up any hopes of getting a job and sustaining a life themselves. Their only choice is to marry and become "wives" (which in their country does not give them many human rights) .
As "orphans" and women they continue to be limited by the entrenched beliefs about women in their country. In light of that, of course there are also chances to help with college support. (again the fee is minimal, approx: $750/year). If anyone is interested to helping a young woman get a degree which will enable to her to lead a more self sufficient life and be able to live a better, more progressive existence, please contact Kyle Evans, (Staff member supporting Youth & Outreach Activities) kevans@trinitysolebury.org
