Pastoral Care at Trinity
This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. John 15:12
Pastoral Care is a common call to each of us at Trinity, a call to Christ’s ministry of offering God’s love to each other. Both by asking for love and support during times of adversity, and by offering our gifts to nurture those in their time of need, we together heal and become whole in Christ.
In addition to the general pastoral care provided by each of the members of Trinity to each other, there are specific pastoral care ministry teams at Trinity, listed below, whose members offer their pastoral gifts, together with ongoing pastoral care provided by the clergy. (Clergy led pastoral services are described on the Pastoral Rites page.)
Lay Eucharistic Ministry
Lay Eucharistic ministers bring the Eucharist to private homes, nursing homes, and hospitals, so that parishioners who are unable to be at worship services are included in the life of our congregation. Lay Eucharistic ministers are trained in the administration of Holy Communion and are licensed by the Bishop of Pennsylvania.
Pastoral Care Team
These lay ministers receive basic training in pastoral care, and are active in card-writing, personal phone calls, and visitations for those who are sick, in crisis, or involved in challenging and/or traumatic transitions.
Healing Ministries
Trinity practices the early church practice in which Christians are empowered to pray for healing of body, mind and spirit in Christ’s name through laying on of hands, anointing with oil and healing prayer.. James 5:14,15 and Luke 9:2 are the chief biblical texts for these healing prayers. Healing prayer is offered after Holy Communion on first Sundays of the month at all three services, and upon request for individuals in the Trinity Chapel or at homes, hospitals, or other locations.
Trinity Cares
Trinity offers care and sustenance through prepared meals given to those who are in need due to joyous and trying life challenges, such as the birth of a child, illness, and the loss of a loved one.
Grief and Bereavement Ministries
We are all faced with the death of a loved one at some point in our lives, even our own death. Trinity's clergy and pastoral care team are available to those needing support in the grieving process. A full description of these resources is available on Trinity's Grief and Bereavement page.
Prayer List
Trinity’s Prayer List is active and vital, with several groups at Trinity praying the names of the prayer list regularly;
as well, many of our parishioners have asked to receive a weekly email describing the week’s new prayer concerns to pray over.
Many of those on our prayer list report that they directly feel the loving support and help that these prayers provide.
If you or a loved one would like to be included in our prayers, please contact the Church office or email your request to prayerlist@trinitysolebury.org. |
